Dent Island Lodge to Octopus Island

I would like to go from Dent Island Lodge through Gilliard and Yuculta to Octopus Islands on August 17, however I cannot seem to find a route that works without waiting around 6 hours for slack to occur at Hole in the Wall or Surge Narrows. Does anyone have a strategy for this, or is the wait just the way it is?

You could go north through the Gillard and Dent, up to Nodales Channel and then down to either Thurston Marine Park or Kanish/Small Inlet, anchor overnight and then go through Okisollo at slack the next day. You will have to watch the winds in Johnstone Strait for this route as you have about a 4 mile stretch from Nodales to Okisollo Channel. You can also anchor temporarily in Florence Cove enroute to Hole in the Wall. This time of year there may be a boat or boats there.

If you listen to the Chatham lighthouse weather reports it will give you what is going on as you will come out of Nodales right at Chatham. Unfortunately, they are 3 hours apart.
