Last month, during the 2021 Rendezvous and via Facetime, I became the newest Tollyclub Commodore. Definitely not the start I hoped for, but with border restrictions still in place, it did the job!
It’s an honour to be your Tollyclub Commodore this year and I’m excited for the challenges and fun ahead! But it would be impossible without our Bridge members and many volunteers who donate their time to manage the club and host our events. I especially want to say thank you to two members of the Bridge:
- Paul Jones our outgoing Commodore. Paul provided strong leadership this past year and helped the club navigate through restrictions and re-openings.
- Pierce Hoover our outgoing Immediate Past Commodore. Even though Pierce has concluded his term on the Bridge, most recently heading up sponsorship – a key area for the club’s finances, he will remain a valuable source of advice for the incoming bridge.
Thank-you also to Debbie Jones who took over the Tollyclub clothing and merchandise this year. While I’m still waiting to see all the new items in person, I know she has done a great job. Perhaps my credit card bill is grateful for the border closure.
I am looking forward to working with our 2021-22 Bridge and volunteers like Debbie this year.
One of our main goals for 2021-22 is to launch the online Tollyclub store. This project took longer than expected but we are nearing completion. The store will offer “Tolly Gear” for sale to current Tollycraft Boating Club and Canadian Tollycruisers members.
A new feature the club introduced this year is a digital roster. In the next few days, the current roster will be emailed to all current members. You will still have the option of having a hard copy roster, but I know I’m looking forward to having a copy on my iPad as we travel. Plus, we have links directly to all our sponsors, making it easy to connect with them. If you have any updates to your contact info, please send them to me ASAP.
We are also excited to host a full slate of events this year. This weekend we return to Tacoma for the South Sound Mini and planning is underway for the North Sound Mini in Anacortes this September. Please see the events page for all the event details.
Speaking of events, please mark your calendars for our 34th Tollyclub Rendezvous – Suessical the Rendezvous(ical) – at Roche Harbor from June 22-26, 2022.
