Due to the ongoing Covid-19 outbreak, the Seattle Yacht Club has cancelled their Opening Day festivities. As a result, the Log Boom is also cancelled and refunds will be issued to registrants.

Please see below for a message from the Seattle Yacht Club regarding the cancellation of Opening Day.

To all in Seattle and to the Boating Community of the Salish Sea,

As we try to make sense of what has been happening around the world, decisions need to be made for the safety of our friends, family and community. With that, it is with profound sadness that we announce that a decision has been made that we must cancel Seattle Yacht Club’s Opening Day 2020 Boating Parade.

This event is no small feat to pull together. So much time and effort has been put into preparation by the over two hundred plus volunteer members of the Opening Day Committee. That preparation includes the coordination with Seattle Police and Fire Departments, King County Police, U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and Homeland Security. To all of them, we say thank you. We couldn’t make Opening Day happen without you.

We also want to thank all the time and effort put in by the University of Washington Men’s and Women’s Rowing Teams and Windermere Real Estate for their organization of the Opening Day Crew Regatta and Windermere Cup races. We know that it was not easy for them after the Pac 12 made their announcement to cancel all sports for the remainder of the academic year.

Thank you for all of your support, whether you were part of the parade, the log boom or watching from shore. You are why we put this event on.
